Jim Thorpe Arts in Motion is very proud to be the local "campus" for Jacqueline Hyde's International School of Burlesque & Cabaret Arts!
Burlesque is an art form that began as a lampoon of popular plays, literary works or political figures for public amusement before it evolved into the classic art of striptease as we know it today. What sets it apart from other erotic dance forms is the technical and artistic skills needed to truly master it. More than simply the "bump and grind," burlesque combines musical interpretation, movement technique, character development, humor and sensuality to create a one-of-a-kind piece of performance art.
Cabaret Arts generally refers to variety entertainment which may include, singing, dancing, comedy, and short theatrical pieces or small circus acts. Cabaret is generally performed in smaller more intimate venues such as nightclubs or black box theaters.
There are various programs to choose from one time classes, for those looking to add a little spice in their lives, to programs for those seeking to perform professionally.
